Make sure you have not requested speculative work...
Before you request a proposal from designers, check to make sure you have not requested speculative work.
Rather than asking for speculative design work, use a ‘demonstrated quality’ approach. Ask for case histories from previous projects that may relate to the type of work you are looking for.
Do not ask designers to provide ideas, solutions, sketches or drawings with the proposal, unless you are offering to pay an appropriate fee to all respondents for these services. The GDC does not recommend asking for solutions in your initial proposals as this approach does not generally provide for the essential elements of the design process. The results are rarely based on in-depth knowledge and research and do not provide the best value for the client.
